Nap time did not go quite as well. But considering Mom and Dad had just taken him off the pacifier and are encouraging sippy cups, not bad. First I put him in the portacrib, closed the door and expected him to cry for a few minutes as he often does at home. But when the crying did not stop, I checked in on him. He had taken the mattress and scrunched it all up so sleeping would have been very difficult. Plan #2, I took him into my bed and laid down with him. As soon as he believed I was staying put with him, he went off to sleep. I couldn't go too far while he slept as I was not sure if he would try to get off the bed when he woke up. After nap, we headed off to a barbecue at Joanna and Kevin's. He was the star. He played and ate and smiled at everyone except my friend and coworker, Francis. Back home at bedtime, I wanted him to be asleep before I put him in the portacrib. . I was amazed that he laid in my arms for about 30 mintues wihtout moving at all but awake but he did finally fall asleep in my arms on the couch. Then into the crib he went. But no matter how quietly I moved out of the room and even if his eyes were closed and he was looking the other way, he knew when I had left the room. Well, the third time he did that, he just had to cry a bit and get over it. He cried a minute and back to sleep.
He woke up about 6:30 but was surprised to see me. Upon seeing me he covered one eye and looked down. He looked up saw me again and did the same. Three times and then smiled and we were off to another great day.
We headed up to Todd and Megan's about 4:00 to bring dinner and stay for the night. Connor totally cooperated and fell asleep about 15 minutes into the trip. At his home, he showed us how he could walk while holding onto a walking toy(lawnmower or block pusher). Not really walking yet can can do the "knee walk" very well.
He is getting smarter and cuter every time we see him.
So great, I love these blogs! Thanks again for watching them :)
